DPS Trooper Seize Over $180,000 in Meth

AMARILLO -- A DPS traffic stop Thursday on I-40, yielded over five pounds of meth valued at over $180,000. Lorenzo Gutierrez Lopez was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail.

At 1:19 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound on I-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.

During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered four bundles of methamphetamine in the spare tire.

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from an unknown location in California to Atlanta, Georgia.
