DPS: Spilled Liquid Fat Causes Wreck

Troopers say a truck tractor was hauling a storage bin of liquid fat feed for cattle when some of the fat started spilling out onto the road.
AMARILLO -- A person is recovering in the hospital after a car crash caused by liquid fat in the middle of the road.

It happened Monday night around 6:30 on US Highway 385 and County Road 5.

Troopers say a truck tractor was hauling a storage bin of liquid fat feed for cattle when some of the fat started spilling out onto the road.

Another driver drove over the fat and lost control of the car and crashed into a ditch.

One of the passengers was airlifted to the hospital. The other five passengers suffered minor injuries.

Troopers say the driver was the only one wearing a seatbelt.
