David Shepard Pleaded Guilty to Sonnier Murder

David Shepard pleaded guilty this morning to murdering Dr. Joseph Sonnier.
UPDATE 11:27 A.M. -- Sentencing for David Shepard will be held in the next few weeks.

LUBBOCK -- David Neal Shepard, 52, pleaded guilty this morning to murdering Dr. Joseph Sonnier. 

Prosecuters say Shepard was paid three silver bars, valued at $9,000, by Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon, 49, to kill romantic rival Dr. Joseph Sonnier. Police say Sonnier was dating Dixon's ex-girlfriend.

Shepard and Dixon were indicted on two counts of Capital Murder charges on August 30 of last year.

Sonnier died on July 11 of last year in the murder-for-hire plot.
