(KPRC) Gilford Beatty's legal troubles began with a phone call from a bonding company.
Beatty said the message left on his cellphone informed him he had warrants out for his arrest on two felony charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
"Still bothers me," said Beatty. "My world ended, everything, painful."
The husband and father of four said his problems didn't end with those two charges. Beatty said after paying for his bond on the two initial robbery charges, he was arrested and charged with two more robberies.
"I kept telling them it wasn't me, it wasn't me," said Beatty.
Despite his pleas of innocence, Beatty was hit with a fifth robbery charge. Beatty then learned he was being accused of a string of mobile phone store robberies that occurred last year in the Humble, Texas area.
Court records read the victims in each case positively identified Beatty as the robber, even though he said he never set foot in any those stores.
Beatty spent six days in the Harris County jail, lost his job and spent $15,000 on bail and an attorney.
