Women’s Basketball Adds Two Transfers

Denver University transfer Michaela Neuhaus and Northwest Missouri State transfer Morgan Dittberner are slated to join the Lady Buffs.

CANYON – West Texas A&M head women’s basketball coach Mark Kellogg announced Wednesday the addition of two transfers for the 2014-15 season.  Denver University transfer Michaela Neuhaus and Northwest Missouri State transfer Morgan Dittberner are slated to join the Lady Buffs.

Neuhaus, a 5-7 guard from Lone Tree, Colo., will have two years of eligibility for the Lady Buffs after two years for the Pioneers.  She saw action in 21 games for Denver this past season helping lead the Pioneers to the Summit League Championship game.  As a freshman, Neuhaus played in 20 games and averaged nine minutes per game for the Pioneers.

Prior to DU, Neuhaus was the Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior for Colorado at Highlands Ranch High School.  She was a Parade All-American, named to the All-Colorado Team, as well as earning first team all-state honors and was the conference MVP.  She earned all-tournament and all-state honors as a junior.

“Michaela is a student-athlete who we watched quite a bit in high school,” Kellogg said.  “She played for a tremendous high school program at Highlands Ranch High School and Coach Caryn Jarocki.  Michaela has a great feel for the game and she can really score the ball from the point guard position.  She has a great motor and is also a fantastic defender, and will have an immediate impact on our program both on and off the court.  Lady Buff fans will definitely enjoy watching Michaela play for the next two years.”

Dittberner, a 6-0 redshirt freshman guard/forward from Louisville, Neb., sat out this past season for the Bearcats.  She was recruited by Kellogg while he was the head coach of the Bearcats prior to taking the WT job in 2013.

At Louisville High School, she earned all-area and honorable mention all-state honors each of her last three seasons.  She was a first team all-conference selection as a senior and second team honoree as a junior.

“We recruited Morgan a year ago and it will be nice to reunite with her at WT,” Kellogg said.  “Morgan has good size on the wing which allows her to score in a variety of ways.  She has spent countless hours in the gym and she can flat out shoot the basketball.  Morgan is a perfect fit here at WT and to our program and is a fantastic student and a first class person.  We are extremely pleased to add Morgan to the Lady Buff family.”

Dittberner and Neuhaus join three November signees in true freshmen Haley Bruedigam, Emily Hurst and Abby Whyte for the 2014-15 season.
