Update: Power Outages in the Panhandle

Currently around 2,400 without power.

UPDATE 2 P.M. - Xcel energy is reporting that at 2 p.m., outage numbers reduced to 1,175, and most of those, 1,079, were in Pampa.

Xcel discovered more damage in the Pampa area, and there is currently a feeder line out of service and 12 smaller tap lines out of service.

Additionally, Xcel is working on 10 transformer outages and 55 service-level outages in Pampa.

Xcel crews will continue work in into the evening.

There are currently eight customers remaining without power in Amarillo, 13 out in Borger and one out in Canyon.

AMARILLO 10 A.M. – Xcel Energy is reporting that a storm caused power outages around 3 a.m.

12,814 customers lost power.

By 7 a.m., Xcel returned power to over 10,000 customers.

Currently without power:

  • Amarillo has 1,195 out,

  • Borger 277,

  • Canyon 17,

  • Dumas 2 and

  • Pampa 936.

Xcel sent additional personnel to Pampa to help the local crews.
