UPDATE 7/16/14 -- New charges for the three suspects in the June 9 Garage burglary.

Gustavo Ferrusquilla

Ferrusquilla is now charged with additional offenses since the original arrest.

On June 19, the Randall County DA’s office accepted charges of burglary of a habitation against Ferrusquilla.  These charges were linked to a May 28 case in which a 2011 Nissan Xterra was stolen from an open garage on Garwood Street.  That vehicle was recovered two days later and physical evidence linked him to the offense.

The DA’s office declined Ferrusquilla’s initial arrest charges and instead accepted charges of aggravated robbery on June 24.

On June 30, the RCDA’s Office accepted charges of credit card abuse and a second count of theft over $1500 but less than $20,000.  These charges were linked to the June 6 burglary of a vehicle on Notre Dame.  In that incident, electronic equipment and personal identifiers including credit cards were stolen.  A stolen card was used that day to purchase a 50 inch television. On July 15, APD auto theft detectives filed a charge of burglary of a habitation through the Randall County District Attorney’s Office.  That charge was related to a May 25 burglary on Tripp Street in which a vehicle was stolen from a garage.

Genaro Hernan Hernandez

APD White Collar Crimes investigators filed charges against Genaro Hernan Hernandez with one count of theft of property over $1500 but under $20,000 stemming from the auto burglary on Notre Dame St.  He was originally booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  These charges were declined, with the RCDA’s office accepting formal charges of aggravated robbery under complaint on June 24.

Robert Eliseo Ramos

Robert Eliseo Ramos was formally charged with aggravated robbery rather than the initial charges of burglary and engaging in organized criminal activity.

All three are listed as in custody at the Randall County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE 6/9/14 -- 20-year-old Robert Eliseo Ramos is booked into jail for burglary of a habitation and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Investigators determined that the suspects were able to open the garage door using a remote opener stolen from a family vehicle parked beside the home.

Investigators believe that the firearm used had been stolen from a vehicle in the neighborhood just prior to the burglary.

ORIGINAL 6/9/14 -- Amarillo Police arrested three people early this morning after they break into a home.

Genaro Hernan Hernandez, 20, Gustavo Ferrusquilla, 20, and a third suspect were caught this morning after a homeowner in the 7900 block of Pineridge Drive was awakened by an alarm indicating entry into his garage.

The resident checked the garage and found the door open and the three suspects inside.  The men fled.  The homeowner pursued but did not catch them.

The homeowner returned home but heard a pickup nearby and went back outside.   One of the suspects was driving the pickup.  The homeowner chased after the vehicle on foot.

The pickup driver went into a muddy area near the Greenways School, where it became stuck.  The burglary victim caught up to the truck and attempted to detain the driver when he heard a shot fired.  He then realized that the other two suspects were present, and one of them had fired a shot at him. All three suspects then ran.

Several APD units and the DPS helicopter were responding by this time, and an APD canine unit arrested the driver nearby.  Officers located the second suspect in the back yard of a home on Millie Place and arrested him.  Officers located a handgun at his arrest scene.  Officers located the third suspect some time later.

Hernandez was booked for engaging in organized criminal activity and burglary of a habitation.

Ferrusquilla was booked for those two charges and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
