Update: Amarillo Police Arrest Suspect in Monday Stabbing

The victim did suffer multiple stab wounds but is being treated for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
UPDATE 3:10 P.M. -- Amarillo Police arrest 35-year-old Richard Earl Ewing during a traffic stop at 45th and Cornell.

The suspect was brought to the PD for questioning and to recover physical evidence from him.

A warrant was issued for Ewing by the 47
th District Attorneys Office charging him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Ewing was later transported and booked into the Potter County Correction Center. 


AMARILLO -- Around 3 p.m. Monday, Amarillo Police responded to a reported stabbing in the 200 block of S Tennessee. 

After arriving, Police learned that the victim was taken to a local hospital by a neighbor. The victim did suffer multiple stab wounds but is being treated for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The witness told police that an ex-boyfriend was at the residence when the suspect came to the door. The suspect told the resident that he was there to talk about his brother getting stabbed. 

The suspect believed that the ex-boyfriend of hers had stabbed his brother and he was there to find out what happened. 

Everyone in the house argued over a supposed stabbing. As the argument continued, the victim and ex-boyfriend got into a fight. 

As the two were fighting the suspect pulled out a small knife and began stabbing the victim. The suspect then returned to his vehicle and quickly left the scene. 

APD Detectives are trying to track down the suspect but no arrests have been made at this time.
