AMARILLO -- TxDOT will be making bridge and pavement repairs near downtown Amarillo Thursday. The maintenance projects will require lane closures which will cause congestion and delays.
TxDOT crews will be working on pavement repairs at Washington Street on WB I-40 beginning just after 8 a.m. The work will necessitate closing down the right lane on WB I-40 just before the I-27 Interchange and moving traffic to the center and left lanes. Just before Washington Street the center and left lane traffic will shift to the left lane only. This will allow the safe merger of traffic coming SB on I-27 from downtown Amarillo to WB I-40 in the center lane. The work will also require the closure of the WB off ramp from I-40 to Washington Street. Motorists wishing to exit WB I-40 will use the Crockett Street exit just west of Washington Street.
TxDOT will also be performing bridge joint repairs on the Pierce Street (US 87/287) SB overpass over Fillmore Street just north of downtown Amarillo. Traffic will be moved to the left lane only on the overpass while the work is being completed.
Both projects are expected to be completed by late Thursday afternoon.
