This study suggests that since it's Wednesday--there's a pretty good chance people are doing less searching for health issues than they did yesterday...and more searching than they will tomorrow.
It all boils down to a pattern that researchers found when they looked at who was googling what ... when.
The study is published in the latest American Journal of Preventive Medicine. Investigators from a number of institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, looked at Google searches that included the term "healthy" - such as "healthy diet" and they looked at those searches in the us that took place between 2005 and 2012.
Here's what they discovered: on average searches were more frequent early in the week than later with the lowest average number of searches on Saturday. The pattern repeated week after week, every year.
Researchers say it's not unlike illnesses that tend to spike on Mondays and Tuesdays. Similarly, they think people use the beginning of the week to focus on new behaviors--kind of like a mini- New Year's Eve restart.
Here's how the study may impact your future health: researchers think that perhaps health promotion campaigns would have the largest impact by targeting people early in the week with more advertisements run on Mondays and Tuesdays, when those google searches suggest the public seems to be the most engaged with health awareness.
