We all know that what you eat when you are pregnant can, in some ways affect your baby but apparently dad's eating habits may also impact a child's food cravings.
The news comes from a study published in the medical journal, Nutrition. The author, Doctor Ian Myles says his research shows poor dietary habits may be coded into our DNA.
We all have microbes living in our intestines called "Gut Flora" and it affects the way we process what we eat. Gut Flora is inherited through the mother and studies have shown that what a pregnant woman eats can affect a child's flavor preferences.
This new study also shows that a father's bad diet may create a "cellular memory" in the DNA passed on to a child. That means dad's burger and fries habit may be passed on to the child in the same way as hair color.
And -- poor eating habits can also lead to a host of health problems including obesity, and damage to the heart, liver and kidneys.
