Three WT Golfers Named CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District

West Texas A&M sophomore men’s golfer Ethan Peterson and women’s golfers junior Judy Papenfus and senior Vanessa Spradlin Brown were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large teams.

CANYON – West Texas A&M sophomore men’s golfer Ethan Peterson and women’s golfers junior Judy Papenfus and senior Vanessa Spradlin Brown were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI At-Large teams, which were announced Thursday by the organization.

Peterson, a Clovis, N.M., native, has a 3.93 grade-point average in accounting the lone student-athlete from the Lone Star Conference to earn at-large all-academic accolades.  He was named LSC Academic Men’s Golfer of the Year accolades this season and earned first team all-conference accolades.

He ended the regular season with a second-place finish at the Wolf Pack Invitational with rounds of 68 and 67 which were low-rounds of the season for him.  Peterson finished the season with back-to-back LSC Men’s Golfer of the Week honors.

Papenfus, a native of Maclear, South Africa, had a 3.93 GPA in mass communication, while Spradlin Brown, Albuquerque, N.M., native, had a 3.95 in Civil Engineering. Both were named to the LSC All-Academic Team.  Papenfus was a second team all-conference selection, too, while both were WGCA All-America Scholars last season.

All three athletes now will move onto the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
