The Track Team With No Track

Iowa high school track team finds success despite their lack of a track to practice on.
(KWQC)  Track and fielders from all over Iowa are gearing up for the state track meet in Des Moines this weekend.

Hundreds of athletes from all over the state will be competing, including  a few from the small school of Calamus-Wheatland.

They qualified for five different events, despite not even having a track to practice on.

The team practices on city streets in Wheatland, and created a makeshift track around a local church.

"The only time I've really considered that other schools have a track is when we visit them for a meet," says Junior runner Megan Flattery. "I think, wow, what it must be like to practice on a 400 meter, six or eight lane track."
