AUSTIN -- The state of Texas ranks 4th nationally in youth enrollment with 27 percent of Texans enrolling, above the national average of 25 percent. The percentage represents roughly 56,037 enrollees between the ages of 18 and 34.
The other states outranking Texas are Florida, New York, and California, of which New York and California have state marketplace exchanges setup in addition to the federal marketplace exchange.
A recent study highlighting five areas in Texas (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, McAllen) showed that youth enrolling for health coverage can find plans as low as $74 to $100 with credits and subsidies applied.
