AMARILLO -- Home sales in Texas have reached a new high.
In fact, according to a report from the Texas Association of Realtors, sales and prices have reached quite the milestone, their highest level in the history of the report, which began in 2009.
Across texas, home sales have risen 18.97% for the third quarter over what they were a year ago. Amarillo hasn't risen as much, only about 8%, but it's still looking up.
"If you go back to the best year ever, in real estate in Amarillo, and that was in 2006, we're up almost 3% from what it was back then," says David Grimes of Keller Williams.
The volume of homes has been low, which of course, has been pushing the price up.
Grimes says that though construction of new homes is increasing, it will be some time before they can help the market.
Even though we haven't had such a jump, we won't have as big a drop as the state does.
The Texas Quarterly Housing Report includes statistics from all areas of Texas.
