AMARILLO -- The Texas Panhandle Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster (VOAD) Organization is hosting a Membership Recruitment Luncheon today at 11:30 a.m. in the Polk Street United Methodist hall in Amarillo.

The organization serves to share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle - preparation, response, recovery and mitigation - to help communities prepare for and recover from disasters.

"We want to streamline the process of a disaster, so we are not duplicating our efforts," says VOAD President, Zack Wilson of the High Plains Food Bank. "Our goal is to eliminate a disaster within a disaster."

Guided by the core principles of the "4 C's": Cooperation, Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration, National VOAD members provide the leadership that build strong, resilient communities and delivers hope in times of need.
