(NBC News) Washington is abuzz with speculation following the shocking primary upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
Cantor lost Tuesday to primary challenger David Brat, a Virginia economics professor who ran a campaign that heavily criticized Cantor for his stance on immigration.
Brat defeated Cantor despite a shocking gap in campaign spending, with Cantor raising nearly $5.5 million to Brat's $206,663. In fact, the Cantor campaign spent more at two Washington D.C. area steakhouses than Brat spent on his entire campaign.
