Suddenlink Honors People Helping People: Teachers

"There is no such thing as an average human being. If you have a normal brain, you are superior." <br> <a href="http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/11100.Ben_Carson"><span style="color:blue">Ben Carson</span></a>
Each month Suddenlink Communications joins us in shining the spotlight on people in the area who make a major difference in our community.

Suddenlink believes there are everyday heroes, and we think it's important to give them the recognition they deserve.  Certainly one of the most important groups is our area teachers.  Teachers are a vital part of our society, and deserve a big thank-you.  Suddenlink would like to personally thank our community's school personnel for all they do.

So to thank them, we've brought in two outstanding educators from Amarillo ISD.  Russ Pennington is the Region 16 Secondary Education Teacher of the Year.  Pamela Garrett is the Region 16 Elementary Education Teacher of the Year.

"Russ and I believe that no matter the situation, a child is quite capable of learning," Pam said.  "We believe that all children can learn; we need to be talking with them."

Russ and Pam referenced a story by Ben Carson, who started as a poor student, but because of his mother's influence, he grew up to be a brilliant neurosurgeon.  Their favorite quote:

"There is no such thing as an average human being. If you have a normal brain, you are superior."
Ben Carson
