A breakthrough in stem cell research.

Scientists in Boston say they've found a way to make stem cells by putting mature cells under stress.

Two new studies published this week in the journal Nature describe the breakthrough method as 10 times faster than others.

Up until now, the most common ways for creating stem cells involved embryos or inserting DNA into adult stem cells.

The focus of stem cell research is to develop therapies that repair bodily damage and cure disease by inserting cells that can grow into whatever tissues or organs are needed.
