Sprinkler System Scams

The Better Business Bureau warns scammers are on the prowl and check before you hire a company to install an irrigation system.
Before you hire someone to install an irrigation system, the BBB says to make sure it's a reputable company.

Janna Kiehl, from the BBB, says the City of Amarillo requires companies to have proper licensing. Kiehl also says to remember you are the consumer and it is your right to ask questions.

Here are ways to avoid a scam:
  • Check with the BBB for the company's grade and reviews.
  • Get estimates from several contractors and read each contract.
  • Avoid hand-shake deals. Make sure all agreements are in writing.
  • Avoid paying for the complete job until the work is one hundred percent done and you're satisfied with the results.
