AMARILLO -- Homeowners use the most energy during summer months which can mean costly bills but the Home Depot offers ways to save money.
They suggest turning your home into a smart home.
An app called wink connects you to wink enabled products in your home and allows you to have more control.
Assistant Store Manager Mark Cruz says another way to save money is to think long term.
Replacing incandescent lightbulbs with LED's can mean more bang for your buck.
Cruz says, "LED light bulbs are more expensive than incandescent light bulbs in the very short term but a 10-year warranty on a light bulb is a pretty good deal and you're going to spend a lot less in ten years on an LED light bulb than you would buying as many as 40 incandescent light bulbs."
Cruz also suggests "Cree" light bulbs which has the benefit of energy savings but produces the warm light like incandescent bulbs.
