(NBC News) A rare summer tornado touched down in Revere, Massachusetts Monday.
"The sky went black and everything start whipping," says Revere resident Nicole Pallo. "I saw things flying in the air. It got really loud."
The twister flipped cars, knocked over trees and power lines and blew apart several buildings.
The Revere twister was the latest in a string of weird weather.
There was a freak thunderstorm over Venice Beach, California Sunday that produced lethal lightning strikes that left one man dead and more than a dozen others injured.
Severe weather in the South also spawned tornados in Tennessee.
Forecasters say much of the country can expect more of the extraordinary weather through Tuesday.
