(NBC News) Two people are dead and a third injured following a Tuesday morning shooting inside a Troutdale, Oregon high school.
Police responded to a report of shots fired inside Reynolds High School shortly after 8:00 am Tuesday.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown, with students and teachers taking shelter inside locked classrooms.
Authorities have not yet identified the shooter or his victim, but say the gunman was carrying a rifle.
A teacher was also treated at the scene with non life threatening injuries. Officials credit the quick action of two school resource officers with assisting law enforcement with ending the incident.
"They responded immediately," said Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson. "They and another tactical team brought this to a conclusion."
