SANFORD -- Elections for City Aldermen in Sanford have been put on hold, after the city secretary left for vacation just before the filing deadline. The city council held a special meeting on Thursday, passing a resolution that would allow for a joint election with the city of Fritch.

Secretary Julie McIntire has been gone all week on vacation. Problem is applications to file for one of three alderman positions must be signed by McIntire by February, 28th at 5:00 p.m.

If McIntire doesn't show up for work, she's in violation of civil law and may face charges. Otherwise applications will be accepted at city hall until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Election day is set for May 10th, at the Sanford Fritch ISD Administration Building.
