The Salvation Army will spend the next month ringing bells, wrapping gifts and helping spread holiday cheer.

"When you partner with the Salvation Army, you are helping families in need. And not only that, our programs help so many different individuals - the homeless, ex-prisoners, children, the youth," Catherine Meck, with the local Salvation Army said.

The Salvation Army kicked of it's annual Angel Tree program and Red Kettle campaign this month, and the organization will also give meals to families in need this Christmas and help out area teens.

"We have a goal of 600 families this year," Meck said.

You can adopt an angel at Westgate Mall or make a monetary donation, and if you want to do a little more, Meck says they can always use an extra hand.

"We always need help and volunteers. Come on out and bell ring for us. It's a great opportunity to be part of the community."

An opportunity to be part of the community, and part of a strong christmas tradition, serving poeple on the High Plains.
