President Obama signs executive order raising the minimum wage for federal workers.
(NBC News)  President Obama signed Wednesday an executive order raising the minimum wage for federal workers to $10.10.

"In the wealthiest nation on earth nobody who works full time should have to live in poverty," Mr. Obama said after signing the order.

The move was opposed by Republicans, who argue the increase in spending will result in more borrowing.
