PANHANDLE – A series of three “Preserving the Harvest” food preservation classes will be held during May by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service at the War Memorial Building, 500 Main St., Panhandle.
"The classes will begin at 9 a.m. and end around noon each day. Classes are scheduled for May 5, 12 and 19," said Jeanene Montgomery, AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences agent for Carson County.
"The classes will cover the basics of pressure and water bath canning, freezing and dehydrating foods, and home food preservation safety," Montgomery said.
Each participant will take home a training notebook, the University of Georgia’s “So Easy to Preserve” publication, and at least four jars of products preserved during the class.
The class is limited to 15 participants. Those planning to attend should call for more information and to RSVP by May 1 to Montgomery at 806-537-3882 or email@example.com .
