Police: Marijuana May Have Led to Murder

Police in Colorado confirm that marijuana candy may have played a role in the 9-1-1 murder of man's wife. Meantime, man's brother says shooting is "explainable".
(KUSA) Three days after tragedy ripped the Kirk family, of Denver, Colorado apart, there are still few answers for those closest to them.

"This just isn't explainable," Richard Kirk's younger brother Lance Kirk said. "There are no words."

9NEWS spoke with Lance Thursday after he visited his brother in jail. Richard, 47, is being held without bond after being charged with first-degree murder for allegedly shooting his wife, 44-year-old Kris Kirk, Monday night.

Court documents obtained by 9NEWS indicate Richard may have taken a marijuana candy in combination with another medication. Kris called 911 to report that he was hallucinating. Lance says his brother Richard has been piecing it together ever since.
