Oscar Winner to Speak at Frank Phillips College

Mr. Blake has written several other books, including The Holy Road and Airman Mortensen, and has a number of screenplays currently in production.
BORGER -- Michael Blake, Oscar-winning screenwriter and author of the bestseller Dances With Wolves, is coming to Frank Phillips College in Borger as part of the college's Common Experience program.

Mr. Blake speaks to the FPC student body at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 in the Borger Community Activity Center. This event is free and open to the public.

 Mr. Blake will speak about his life from struggling writer to Oscar-winner.

He will then holds a reception and book signing Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the FPC Library.

Friday, Sept. 30, Mr. Blake will teach a Creative Writing workshop in the college's CAI Conference Center from 9:30 a.m. to Noon, with a light lunch to follow. Enrollment in this workshop is $50 per person, and is limited to the first 50 registrants. Funds from the workshop will go to Mr. Blake, who has generously donated his time to contribute to the Common Experience.
