(NBC News) Oregon police have identified the gunman responsible for Tuesday's deadly shooting at Reynolds High School as 15-year-old Jared Padgett.
Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson told reporters Tuesday that Padgett carried an AR-15 rifle, a knife and a handgun to school in a guitar case.
Padgett entered through a locker room, where he killed fellow freshman Emilio Hoffman and wounded track coach Todd Rispler, who was able to escape and initiate a lockdown, saving "many, many lives" according to investigators.
Padgett exchanged fire with responding officers, then later took his own life.
