Obama Vs. The GOP

President Obama campaigns for minimum wage increase; Republicans launch new push against Obamacare, Medicaid, and food stamps.
(NBC News)  Hoping to sling-shot off what he hopes voters see as success for Obamacare, the president pushed a separate issue Democrats will use in the November elections during a visit to Michigan on Wednesday: Hiking the minimum wage to $10.10.

"It would lift millions out of poverty right away," Mr. Obama said.

Republicans disagree.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan has introduced a plan Republicans will campaign on in the fall: A balanced budget by 2024.

The Ryan plan would cut $2-trillion in medical subsidies, cut Medicaid by $700-billion, cut $1-trillion in food stamps and farm subsidies and hike taxes on the working poor, but not on the rich.
