(NBC News) President Obama signed a pair of executive orders Tuesday he says will boost equal pay fairness for women.
The president signed the orders at a White House ceremony, where he called the disparity in average pay between male and female workers an "embarrassment".
One order will ban federal contractors from retaliating against employees who discuss their compensation.
The other order will require federal contractors to submit pay data to the labor department, including racial and gender statistics.
