New Mexico Supreme Court Overturns Two Child Porn Convictions

On Monday, the state's high court ruled that the New Mexico's child porn law is ambiguous.
SANTE FE -- The New Mexico Supreme Court has overturned two convictions of child pornography cases in Clovis.

James Olsson was convicted back in 2005 for 60-counts possession of child porn. William Ballard was convicted in 2009 for 25-counts of possession. Both are serving time behind bars.

On Monday, the state's high court ruled that the New Mexico's child porn law is ambiguous.

Meaning it was too unclear if prosecutors can bring multiple charges against someone for possessing more than one image or video of child porn.

Both Olsson and Ballard can only be charged with one count of possession because of the unclear law.

They will now have a new trial.
