(NBC News) President Obama delivered the keynote address Thursday at the Civil Rights Summit in Austin, Texas.
The event is being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
"Because of the civil rights movement, because of the laws President Johnson signed, new doors of opportunity slung open for everybody," Mr. Obama said.
