Moore County Regional Airport Manager Named TxDOT Aviation ‘Manager Of The Year”

The Texas Department of Transportation recently awarded Brandon Cox, Airport Manager of the Moore County Regional Airport, as the 2014 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year.

AUSTIN -- TxDOT announced Brandon Cox, Airport Manager of the Moore County Regional Airport, as the 2014 General Aviation Airport Manager of the Year.

The announcement was made during the 32nd Annual Texas Aviation Conference held in Dallas.

Cox was recognized not only for the many improvements he manages at the Moore County Regional Airport, but for his role in economic development.

Cox played a huge role in an airport runway expansion completed to accommodate larger aircraft. He worked closely with TxDOT’s Aviation Division and county commissioners to make sure the project stayed on track and was completed to satisfaction.

This “Manager of the Year” works tirelessly to make Moore County Regional Airport more functional and appealing to aviation customers.

He is not above getting his hands dirty.  He has been known to do groundskeeping around the facility, which includes tearing down old buildings and clearing dead trees. He has performed worked on airport offices and the pilot’s lounge to make things comfortable and to provide amenities such as internet and television service for pilots and guests. He has overseen upgrades to restrooms;  had vending machines installed; and made provisions for professionally-prepared meals for incoming aviation customers.

Cox has been responsible for fueling many military aircraft whose pilots chose to fly into Moore County Regional because of its reputation and for his conscientious efforts to keep the airport’s fuel prices competitive.

In his nomination letter, the Executive Director of the local Economic Development Corporation remarked: “It is extremely rare for a community to attract a new Industry that helps further diversify its economy. Thanks to the foresight and energy that he possesses, we are now embarking on something grander than simply attracting a new business. Through his knowledge, expertise, and connections, we are confident that we will have one of the most active airports in the region.”
