Lawmaker Proposes Land Grab Bill

The BLM says thousands of acres along the red river on the Texas-Oklahoma border should be public domain. However, landowners say the property is private and they have worked and paid taxes on it for years.
The bill is putting a full court press on the BLM.

Giving Red River land owners a fighting chance at keeping their land.

170 families are being affected, so Congressman Thornberry gave a copy of the bill to each one -- allowing them to voice their opinions.

And even if that proposal doesn't go through, land owners say they're not going down without a fight.

Congressman Thornberry says he believes the bill will move quickly through the House of Representatives, but says the Senate another story.

Congressman Thornberry wrote the house bill with the help of Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

They have introduced a similar measure in the Senate.
