(NBC News) A new study which found that 40% of American workers don't use all of their vacation time has spawned an offer from the travel industry that these workers may find difficult to refuse.
Despite a 6% increase in airfares over last Labor Day weekend, demand for flights this year have already reportedly risen 20% with a chance to grow even higher due to last minute bookings.
The exciting news for the fortunate few who still have unused vacation time is what happens after Labor Day weekend is over.
"Certainly, the farther you get into fall...these wonderful tropical destinations, the deals just get better and better," said Jeanenne Tornatore, a Senior Editor with Orbitz.
Tornatore reports that popular destinations are certainly aware the summer travel season is almost over, and are beginning to offer bargains.
