Lady Buffs Tabbed the Top Seed in South Central Region, Host This Weekend in Canyon

The top ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will be making the program’s fourth NCAA postseason appearance this upcoming weekend as they are set to host the South Central Regional I Tournament at Schaeffer Park in Canyon after being named the top seed in the regional announced by the NCAA via an online selection show on Monday morning.

CANYON – The top ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will be making the program’s fourth NCAA postseason appearance this upcoming weekend as they are set to host the South Central Regional I Tournament at Schaeffer Park in Canyon after being named the top seed in the regional announced by the NCAA via an online selection show on Monday morning.

The four-team double elimination event starts on Friday with fourth seeded Texas Woman’s taking on fifth seeded and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Champion Metro State at 4 p.m. followed by eighth seeded Midwestern State taking on top seeded West Texas A&M at Schaeffer Park with first pitch set for 6 p.m.

The other half of the South Central regional bracket will be played in San Angelo, Texas as the second seeded Belles of Angelo State will face off with seventh seeded St. Edward’s while third seeded St. Mary's will matchup with sixth seeded Cameron with game times yet to be determined.

The championship field consists of 64 teams at 16 regional sites in double-elimination play. Regional competition will be held May 9-11 with the winners of the tournaments then meeting in a best-of-three Super Regional held on May 16-18. The finals will be held May 22-26 at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Virginia and will be hosted by the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the City of Salem.
 
Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, May 8th at 9 a.m. CT and fans can order them online or by calling the WT Ticket Office at 806-651-1414, they can also be purchased in person by stopping by the office located inside the First United Bank Center. A ticket will get fans into all games in a single day with reserved seats ($10), general admission ($18) and student ($3).
