Lady Buffs Make It 10 Straight Weeks Atop of the NFCA Division II Top-25 Poll

Two wins over UT-Permian Basin last Tuesday followed by a sweep of then #7 Angelo State this past weekend to claim the Lone Star Conference Championship, the Lady Buffs enter the weekend with a 50-4 overall record as they host the LSC Tournament this weekend at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.

LOUISVILLE -- For the 10th straight week, the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M have remained atop of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top-25 Poll. It also marks the third consecutive week that WT was the unanimous selection with all 16 of the first place votes for a perfect total of 400 points.

Two wins over UT-Permian Basin last Tuesday followed by a sweep of then #7 Angelo State this past weekend to claim the Lone Star Conference Championship, the Lady Buffs enter the weekend with a 50-4 overall record as they host the LSC Tournament this weekend at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.

The Lady Buffs received all 16 of the possible first-place votes for a total of 400 points followed by Alabama-Huntsville (373), Cal State Monterey Bay (353), North Georgia (344), Minnesota State Mankato (294), Humboldt State (289), Tampa (280), Caldwell (271), Indianapolis (267) and Angelo State (254). The South Central Region was represented by WT, Angelo State (10th), St. Mary’s (15th), Texas Woman’s (RV) and St. Edward’s (RV).

West Texas A&M have earned the right to host the 2014 Lone Star Conference Softball Championship taking place this Friday and Saturday at Schaeffer Park in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buffs receive a bye in the quarterfinal round and will face the winner of Texas Woman’s/Tarleton State on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. and the LSC Title will be decided on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
