Good Thursday afternoon. Much nicer weather returns for today and tomorrow. Under a mostly sunny sky with a southwest wind of 5 to 20 mph, temperatures will warm into the upper 60s and low 70s by this afternoon. Amarillo will see a high close to 70. Tomorrow will offer the same warmth before a cold front moves in during the evening hours. After the front arrives, north winds will increase upwards of 15 to 30 mph, with a slight chance for a light rain/snow mix by tomorrow night. No accumulations of snow are expected at this time. As Saturday rolls around, the cloudy, damp, windy weather will continue with scattered rain showers. Flurries may mix in from time to time. Temperatures will stay on the chilly side with a mix of 30s and 40s. Sunday will see improving conditions with a return of sunshine and highs in the 50s. Monday and Tuesday will follow suit with 60s and low 70s.
One more note about the chance for precipitation tomorrow night. As the upper level disturbance approaches, claps of thunder would not be out of the question. However, severe thunderstorms are not expected.
