The IRS is churning out slightly bigger refunds this year.
The agency has already paid out 73 million million dollars in tax refunds so far, averaging $2,831 apiece.
That average is based on IRS statistics from Jan. 31 through March 28.
That's a 1.5-percent increase from the same period last year.
The IRS has received nearly 91 million returns so far.
91-percent of them were filed electronically.
And the vast majority of refunds have been received by direct deposit.
Taxpayers have until Tuesday, April 15, to file their taxes this year.
