(KOB) Hundreds of people Wednesday returned to the spot in the Albuquerque foothills where James Boyd was shot by police officers.
That incident happened in mid-March when Boyd was found illegally camping.
Police say he threatened them with knives and refused to drop them; both lethal and non-lethal force were used by police. Boyd died from his injuries.
Those who knew Boyd said he was a kind and brilliant man who they knew as "Aba."
"If someone could have just been like Aba, come down here! Someone that knew him, it would have all ended differently," a friend said.
