Hardeman County Memorial Hospital Update

The Quanah hospital filed last year, but where are they now?
It's been about a year since an area hospital filed for Chapter 9 Bankruptcy.

But where do they stand now?

Hardeman County Memorial Hospital filed for bankruptcy in March of 2013 because of over spending.

A hospital official told us back in January he was hoping to be out of bankruptcy by May.

Dave Clark.. an administrator at the Quanah hospital says they're well on their way to be out of bankruptcy by mid year.

He tells us the hospital is going to make smarter financial decisions when it comes to what the buy, and how much of it.

Clark says they've recently taken out a lease on a new cat scan, as well as some equipment for their radiology department.

He tells us they plan to make these big purchases and have them organized by the time they are out of bankruptcy because the hospital does not want to have to turn around and file again in the next couple years.

He tells us they've come a long way in 12 months.

Clark says, "in 2013 we were looking at  deficit of  about $1.6 million 3 months into the year.  And at the end of the year we ended a little over $700 thousand to the positive "

He says around the time the hospital filed for Chapter 9 they hired a new doctor, but did have to let some employees go.

Clark says many of them already had jobs lined up.

He told us back in January his main goal was to not have the hospital be forced to close it's doors.

He tells us today, they never had to.

Clark says now that the hospital is financially back on track.

He says their next goal is to regain the trust of the community.
