Board members from the Guymon memorial hospital accepted an offer of new management.
A motion was made to proceed with negotiations with Northwest Texas Hospital.
It passed with a 3-1 vote.
Chairman Raymond Holbert says, "they bring to bear a lot of things that we feel like could be beneficial to our area as far as you know, services."
There were two other offers on the table, Noble Healthcare, which is in Kansas City, as well as Dr. Martin Bautista, a Guymon physician.
BSA was also in the running.. until last week when Holbert says the hospital backed out.
Holbert tells us, "their decision not to submit a proposal is based on their belief that the urgency and significance of this opportunity requires a partner to be free of any potential conflicts of interest. "
It all started last spring, we told you about John Jones being appointed as interim CEO of the hospital.
This was after Lee Hughes was fired after an investigation of open meetings violations and fraud.
With the new partnership with Northwest, hospital officials say this relationship will not only help the hospital grow by increasing patient volume, but it will also be a benefit to both the Guymon and Amarillo communities.
He says, "hopefully it will benefit us by having a company that is used to healthcare , has dealt with healthcare and can provide the kind of support that we desperately need."
