"We're still on track. Some of those girls braved the weather and get out there, but just in case they didn't get out, we're going to give them that extension to meet those goals," Alason Moorhead, Regional Development Director for our area Girl Scouts said.
The inclement weather led to extensions in Lubbock and Amarillo. You will now be able to buy cookies through March 23rd.
Last year, in our area, Girl Scouts sold more than 3,300 boxes of cookies, and sales don't seem to be slowing down.
The local office was expecting a shipment of 400 boxes Wednesday.
But Moorhead says it's really about helping girls reach their goals.
"Hopefully this will provide girls the opportunity to earn more of the benefits they get when selling cookies. People don't know, but they're earning things like cookie bucks that pay for them to go to camp. They're trying to raise funds to either purchase their uniforms or supplies or to do a community service project," Moorhead said.
With a lot of big goals and hundreds of boxes of cookies just waiting to be sold, the extension is goods news for Girls Scouts and cookie lovers a like.
