(WJAR) Crystal Lombardo is back at the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute for the third time since she returned to Rhode Island from North Carolina in October.
But she's no stranger to heart doctors.
Her journey began the day after Thanksgiving more than 14 years ago when she was 32 years old.
"And I was just in such pain that I was brought to tears. I had jaw pain and my left arm would feel kind of numb, kind of tingly and my chest literally hurt," Lombardo said.
She spent three days in the hospital for observation, and even passed a stress test. But the chest pains continued.
By April, she finally found a doctor who got it. Lombardo had a genetic defect.
