“Friendly Fire” Claims Five

Five U.S. servicemen killed in Afghanistan during “friendly fire” incident.
(NBC News)  Five American soldiers are dead after an apparent friendly-fire incident in Afghanistan.

Sources say the soldiers were killed by a U.S. airstrike that was supposed to protect them in the midst of an enemy attack.

Coalition command says the group was on a mission Monday night in southeastern Afghanistan, teamed with Afghan government forces,  before the disaster.

Taliban forces attacked and the Americans called for air support.
