CANYON -– Former West Texas A&M linebacker Bryan Johnson made his NFL debut Sunday night playing the entire fourth quarter in the Buffalo Bills’ 17-13 loss to the New York Giants in Canton, Ohio, in the annual Hall of Fame Game.
Johnson, a native of Bellport, N.Y., is one of 15 former Buffaloes currently on NFL rosters which are more than 55 Division I FBS programs, including the likes of Texas Tech, Houston, Kansas, Indiana and Duke to name a few. The Buffs had seven players from last season’s 11-3 National Quarterfinal team sign free agent contracts following the NFL Draft in May.
While at WT, Johnson played in 28 games with 10 starts in his two seasons in Canyon. Johnson earned second team all-conference honors in 2012 and earned first team all-league honors this past season. He finished his career with 89 total tackles and 34 solo stops. He had 16.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.
