(NBC News) At least ten people, five of them high school students, are dead following a fiery bus crash on California's Interstate 5.
Witnesses say a FedEx delivery truck crossed the median, slamming into a charter bus carrying prospective college students to a tour at Humboldt State University.
Both vehicle immediately erupted in flames.
"There was an emergency exit, but there were too many students in the bus that were trying to get out, so students that were there broke the windows, and that helped a lot of us get out safely," said crash survivor Jonathan Gutierrez.
The bus driver and truck driver were both among the dead.
