(NBC News) Ebola patient Nancy Writebol is back in the United States, landing in Bangor, Maine this morning on her way to Atlanta after flying overnight from Liberia in a medi-vac jet equipped with an isolation pod.
Writebol is expected to land at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Atlanta around noon and will immediately be transferred to an isolation unit at Emory University Hospital that she will share with her colleague Dr. Kent Brantly.
Writebol and Brantly contracted the deadly virus while working as medical missionaries in Africa and doctors say both have shown improvement in the last couple of days after receiving a second dose of the experimental drug ZMapp.
